All are equal before the law

Prosecutor’s Office in Transcarpathian region together with the police detained the dean of human health faculty of the SHEE "UzhNU" and her deputy while obtaining undue advantage. The amount of the bribe, according to the information on the page of the Prosecutor’s Office, is 5,000 UAH.

The teachers received the money for not expelling a student.

Currently, the criminal proceeding under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obtaining of undue advantage) has been initiated.

Urgent investigative measures aimed at documenting illegal activities of the dean and her deputy are being taken.

The head of the university Volodymyr Smolanka commented the incident: "As the rector of Uzhgorod National University, I want an objective and comprehensive investigation into the receipt of illegal benefits by officials of our institution. If the investigation and the court proves their guilt, these people should be held accountable for their actions. This is the practice in all civilized countries, all should be equal before the law."
