Modern electronic technology saves Transcarpathian forest

One the priorities of the Transcarpathian Regional Forest and Hunting Range Administration is combating illegal logging and restoration of the forestry’s authority. One of the instruments for this is an electronic accounting of the wood, the method taken over from Europe.

According to the Director of the "Mokra Forest and Hunting Range" Volodymyr Kutsyn, the principle of the method is that each batch of wood is marked with special electronic chips. They contain all the necessary information about the product, from the name of the forestry to quality characteristics. Although electronic accounting system is not cheap, it has paid off. Because this method is a major step in the fight against illegal logging and for the last two years it has helped to prevent attempts of "black" loggers to destroy the forests of Transcarpathia. Which made it possible to reduce forestry losses and improve the ecosystem.
