Yesterday, border guards of the Mukachevo Detachment, during a joint special operation "Frontier – 2016", prevented another attempt of cigarette smuggling. Having received the information about alleged illegal activity at the border, a border patrol of the department "Vekyky Bychkiv" detected and detained on the bank of the Tisa river, near the border a vehicle Ford and a citizen of Ukraine. Not far from the car, they found eight packages of tobacco products. The packages contained 1,500 packs of cigarettes "Marble" and 2500 packs of cigarettes "Jin Ling" – all without excise stamps.
The police was informed about the attempt of illegal transportation of tobacco products from Ukraine to Romania and detection of an offense containing elements of a crime under Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation with intent to sell of excisable goods".
