Yesterday, June 23, 2016, the head of the Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal and the Acting Chairman of the Regional Council Yosyp Borto signed a joint letter to the Prime Minister of Ukraine with a request to give appropriate instructions regarding the allocation of funds to relieve the aftermath of the emergency situation in the region after heavy rains and hail.
The letter states that, according to preliminary estimates, total damage caused by the disaster amounts to more than UAH 25 million, and over UAH 50 million is needed for emergency response. Thus, it will be possible to mitigate the effects of the disaster only if adequate financial support from the state budget is provided. In particular, as already reported, UAH 1.5 million was allocated to the most affected districts from the contingency fund of the regional budget, UAH 350 thousand – from the contingency funds of local budgets.
Also, the Acting Chairman of the Regional Council Yosyp Borto appealed to the Consul General of Hungary in Uzhgorod Jozsef Buhayla asking to facilitate in the provision of humanitarian assistance to affected households. In this regard, in the coming days, the Government Commissioner of Hungary Istvan Hrezha will come to Transcarpathia.
The Regional Council will continue to inform the public about the measures taken to eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster.
