On Saturday, June 11, in Velyky Berezny district, there will be the celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary of the fall of the meteorite "Knyahynya" – the largest meteorite in Europe.
The celebration will take place on the territory of the Uzhanskyi National Park, in the "Chorni Mlaky" tract near the village of Knyahynya in Velyky Berezny district. The celebration will be attended by representatives of neighboring countries: Poland, Slovakia. The beginning is at 12.00.
Route: Uzhgorod → Velyky Berezny → the village of Sil → the village of Knyahynya → "Chorni Mlaky" tract.
Distance from Uzhgorod to the "Chorni Mlaky" tract is 60 km.
Recall that the initiative group of the Carpathian Institute of Tourism together with the community of the village of Sil and Velyky Berezny administration manufactured, installed and opened: a bike parking for cyclists with a repair shop, a bicycle wash and a garage, a bench for hikers and information sign "Tourist route "Meteorites of Transcarpathia.
Note: the "Chorni Mlaky" tract is the site of the crash of the Knyahynya meteorite on June 9, 1866, at 16:05, near the village of Khyahynya. It is a very interesting event – the fall of Europe’s largest meteorite.
