Today, in Transcarpathian region, there is a critical situation with immunobiological drugs. Because of chronic short supply of vaccine preparations for the past two years, health care institutions can not carry out immunizations as planned. Now, for the prevention of tuberculosis in the region, it is necessary to inoculate with BCG vaccine 15,459 children, for the prevention of diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio and HIB infections with "Pentaxim" vaccine – 25,064 children, for the prevention of diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus with "Infanrix" vaccine – 44,151 children, for the prevention of measles, epidparotitis, rubella with "Priorix" vaccine – 43,634 children, for the prevention of hepatitis "B" – 20,354 children.
– In addition, in Transcarpathia, there is no serum for snake bite and rabies vaccine, the Ministry of Health does not provide the regions with these drugs at all – Hennadiy Moskal said. – So if a snake bites a child in the forest, they will have to be immediately taken abroad for treatment. We have asked the Hungarian government to provide our region with immunobiological products for newborns and infants as humanitarian aid. The Chief Sanitary Doctor of Hungary Tomasz Szentes, who visited Transcarpathia, confirmed the willingness of the country’s government to provide such assistance after the purchase of drugs from European manufacturers (Hungary itself is not a producer of those drugs). The only condition is unhindered border crossing for the humanitarian aid. On our part, this condition will be fulfilled.
