Recall that nowadays the castle is in disrepair, but that does not diminish its value – this is a very interesting monument of European castle architecture.
This post on a very relevant topic was published on the official page of the Nevitsky Castle. Here is what it says:
"Pride of Transcarpathia – Nevitsky castle. Different clandestine manipulations take place about it. According to the court decision, the monument of national importance was transferred to municipal ownership as ownerless nonresidential building (the word "monument" is not even mentioned in the decision). The land in the protection zone of the attraction is being privatized.
Gradually, the approaches to the castle are becoming blocked. The volunteer youth international environmental and archaeological expedition suspended its activities because of uncertainty (volunteer should know the ultimate goal of their work!). The suspension caused an enormous damage to our country image (representatives of 35 countries used to work here").
Students, volunteers (about 5,000 people) have done a huge amount of work in the castle. Those are research (giving a picture of the uniqueness of the castle and providing an opportunity to hope for assistance from international donor funds), reconstruction of the pit, collection of historical stones for future restoration. Also local blacksmiths made, and volunteers installed bars on the windows of the dungeon tower for safety reasons.
