A large number of land plots, which since the beginning of independence Ukraine were being used by border guard agencies for engineering structures, by decisions of local authorities have been transferred to individuals and legal entities.
Meanwhile, on November 2014, the State Border Guard Service jointly with the prosecution office began painstaking and systematic work to return these lands to state ownership. A lot of work has been done in the archives, by proceedings in courts, several orders of the State Land Agency on the allocation of land to private ownership and the results of land auctions for sale of lease rights have been canceled.
As a result, within half a year, about of 250 hectares of illegally owned land along the border have been returned to the state by court decisions. In addition, 6 claims for annulment of the results of land sales by auction for the sale of lease rights to 79 hectares of land in Transcarpathian region are still pending in courts.
