Transcarpathia is preparing for the 30th anniversary of Chernobyl disaster

This year, April 26, will mark 30 years since the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster.
The meeting of the organizing committee for holding of events related to the anniversary of the liquidation of the Chernobyl disaster chaired by the deputy head of the region Oleksandr Petik took place at the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration.

The plan of events envisages that the liquidators of the Chernobyl accident will receive state awards. Widows of those, who died as a result of the disaster, and families of seriously ill and disabled will receive financial assistance from the regional and local budgets. Also, they will inspect the living conditions of the liquidators of the Chernobyl disaster and give them necessary assistance when needed. They will also take measures to ensure timely payment of appropriate benefits and compensation provided by the state and local budgets for social protection of citizens affected by the Chernobyl disaster.

  In educational institutions of the region, there will be themed lessons, lectures and meetings with the liquidators of the Chernobyl disaster.
Also, an international children’s art competition "Nature through the eyes of children" and scientific conference timed to the anniversary of the tragedy will be organized in the region.

        The event-requiem "Chernobyl: years and destiny" with the participation of widows of the deceased liquidators will also be held in Transcarpathia. In addition, there will be rallies-requiems and laying of flowers at monuments to heroes of Chernobyl in cities and districts of the region.

Religious organizations of the region will hold memorial services for the victims of the Chernobyl disaster.
