In 2012, the UN declared March 20 the International Day of Happiness to support the idea that the pursuit of happiness is a common feeling for all the people of our planet. For four years now, the entire planet joins the celebration of the Day of Happiness with different campaigns, flashmobs, conferences and workshops.
We decided on this day to give our readers a touching story of swans, that settled on the lake near the famous Uzhgorod "Kirpichka", told by activists of the "Civil Initiative #Kirpichka."
The birds flew to the lake quite recently. Now they are behaving quite modestly, keeping away from the coast, where people gathery to watch the birds, the Pro Zahid informs.
In recent years, swans have come to the lake quite often and residents of the neighborhood willingly feed the birds. Besides swans, many other birds live on the lake, which the previous government, according to activists of the NGO "Kirpichka", intended to drain. Ornithologist Oksana Stankevich-Volosyanchuk said: "5 species of nesting birds live here. Those are coots similar to ducks, they can be seen, they are not afraid of people. Water pullets, listed in the Red Book of Transcarpathia, hide in cattail. In addition, there also bitterns, protected by various European lists, great reed warblers and mallards. Contemplation of the birds is an element of aesthetic education."
