The tour of the Nevytsky castle, or rather its ruins, was held under the guidance of archaeologist and historian Oleksandr Dzembas.
The author of the the historical and archaeological research of the attraction arranged the open lesson for members of the Transcarpathian center of tourism and all comers.
A few dozen Transcarpathians attended the tour of the castle, or what’s left of it. The organizer admits that he did not expect that so many people would come, but, he said, both adults and children should know about the authentic memorial.
During the tour, he told about the history of the castl and how this history was gradually revealed using archaeological excavations. Oleksandr Dzembas is one of the few activists who for several decades now have been appealing for the preservation of the monument of architecture.
Recall, back in 2013, the castle was in disrepair and already then needed immediate repair and conservation. The last survey was done in November 2015.
In recent years, the condition of the Nevytsky castle has deteriorated. The walls started to crumble and the roof of a small watchtower, which several years ago was partially covered, has collapsed completely.
The weekend tour is captured in the photos.
