The other day, in the city of Miskolc (Hungary), the Program of Cooperation between Transcarpathian and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén regions for 2016-2017 was signed in a formal setting.
The delegation of the management of the Transcarpathian Regionaal Council came to the most densely populated land in Hungary – Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén – for a two-day visit to discuss further cooperation in the framework of international cooperation of territorial local authorities in the Tisa River Basin. And also, to join forces for environmental protection and management of this water basin.
The head of the Hungarian region Terek Dezev first of all congratulated Mykhailo Rivis on his election as the Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council. And he assured in further support of bilateral interregional cooperation aimed at development of cross-border relations, improvement of the investment climate. Hungarian partners are interested in creating a balanced cross-border ecoregion TISA to implement specific economic, transportation, environmental, water management and infrastructure projects.
Mykhailo Rivis on behalf of the deputies thanked Hungary for the assistance provided to Ukraine and Transcarpathia, especially in the current difficult period. And also, for the support of the territorial integrity of our state and its desire for association with the EU.
Finally, in the assembly hall of the general meeting, the Cooperation Program for 2016-2017 was officially signed in the presence of representatives of mass media. Then, both parties agreed to establish an advisory committee to coordinate cross-border cooperation between the two regions, to jointly participate in European Union programs, to promote investment cooperation, participation of both government and non-giovernment organizations in various events taking place in these regions, in international fairs, festivals, forums, business meetings in economy, trade, health care, culture, environment, tourism and others. Also, to effectively take advantage of the tourism potential of both regions, to encourage the establishment of sister city relations between the cities and villages, to deepen cultural and humanitarian cooperation, particularly in the fields of education, science, medicine, culture, religion, museum, archives and more.
As noted by Mykhailo Rivis and Dezev Terek, they will help to ensure the full rights of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathian region and the Ukrainian minority in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén region.
