It will be easier to cross the Ukrainian-Hungarian border for Transcarpathians

Transcarpathian drivers know very well that they have to fill in a blank on the amount of fuel and the kilometrage in order to cross the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. Thus, the European Union has controlled the amount of the fuel being imported without additional excise tax. This system has been introduced in Hungary on 1 March 2012.

Thus, the driver with a full tank could cross the border only once per week. The coupon-system has been cancelled since 18 February 2016. Now, Transcarpathians and tourists no longer need to spend time for filling in the blank. This will result in a more smooth movement at the border-crossing point. In addition, this change will make it more comfortable to cross the border for those Transcarpathian who often travel to Hungary. Of course, there are always people who want to make use of the situation and earn some extra money. However, the locals should value this step. Mutual trust is a step towards European relations. The withdrawal of the system will simplify the life of the tourists who visit both countries especially on the eve of Eastern and the summer season.
