Uzhgorod local prosecutor’s office initiated criminal proceeding over the hooliganism in the Court of Appeal in Transcarpathian region

Uzhgorod local prosecutors registered in the URPI and initiated criminal proceedings over the hooliganism (Part 3 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) in the administrative building of the Court of Appeal in Transcarpathian region during the consideration of the appeals to change pre-trial restraints against the five detained participants of the fight on the Dragobrat.

It concerns the situation when in the period from 23.30 on January 22 to 7.00 on January 23, 2016, MP Parasyuk VZ and a group of unidentified individuals in amount of about 50-80 persons wearing camouflage with stripes of the "Right Sector", that had come to the courtroom to support the suspects, incited a scuffle with police officers, during which the offenders were using foul language, provoked a fight, would not let escort the suspect from the courtroom, and damaged the property, which was in the premises of the Court of Appeal in Transcarpathian region.

Currently, the investigation into the said criminal offense is being carried out by the Investigation Department of the Transcarpathian regional police.

Part 3 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism, that is a gross violation of public order on motives of explicit disrespect to community in a most outrageous or exceptionally cynical manner committed by a group of individuals coupled with resistance to authorities or member of the public performing duties for protection of public order or to other citizens attempting to stop hooliganism, punishable by a fine of five hundred to one thousand untaxed minimum incomes, or arrest for up to six months or restriction of liberty for up to five years.
