Recently, the number of people who want to cross the line of separation in the Donbass to the Ukraine’s controlled territory has significantly increased. In this regard, and also due to lowering air temperature, the issue of ensuring of appropriate living conditions for people at crossing points, including the deployment of heating points, is very relevant. This was discussed during the meeting of the Interagency Coordinating Staff on issues related to social security of citizens moving from the temporarily occupied territory and the area of the ATO that was held on November 19.
The meeting chaired by the First Deputy Head of the Stater Emergencies Service Oleg Melchutsky was attended by the Deputy Head of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region Bogdan Ilkovich, heads of departments of Transcarpathian regional state administration and representatives of the regional council of veterans and the NGO "Transcarpathia-Donbass".
During the meeting, the experts discussed issues concerning the welfare and protection of IDPs, particularly transportation from the ATO area, temporary accommodation, employment, solving other everyday problems.
According to official data, Transcarpathia has already received 4,041 citizens from eastern Ukraine and Crimea, including 1,014 children. Of those, 3,762 persons came to our region from Donetsk and Lugansk regions and 279 – from the occupied peninsula. All citizens, who have applied to the regional headquarters, are provided with temporary housing. 3,718 people applied for the monthly targeted assistance (3,663 applications were granted, 26 are being considered, 29 were rejected).
Thanks to the cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, 164 families have received 910,000 UAH of one-time assistance. Volunteer and other public organizations, local authorities have given IDPs humanitarian assistance with the notional value of 1,400,000 UAH.
