Experts of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine point out the violations that may affect the results of the voting, as was the case in the first round.
– First of all, it is bribery of voters. We must understand that this threat comes not only from one candidate, as another candidate tries to present it in the media. There is indirect evidence that both candidates plan to buy votes, particularly on election day, – the representative of the CVU in Transcarpathia Dmytro Tuzhansky said.
– The second threat that may affect the outcome is falsifications during the vote count. In the first round in Uzhgorod, we had blatant falsification at the TEC that led to litigation and the recount. This time, there is the threat of falsification at polling stations, especially during the vote count, – Dmytro Tuzhansky said.
– The third threat is provocations. We do not expect violent scenarios, but small provocations which can give grounds for challenging the results and the recognition of the election results at some precincts invalid.
– In all these situations, the police, their professionalism and coordination will have a crucial role, of course. But the role and participation of the public is also important, especially with regard to preventive actions against bribery and falsification. Report of violations in social networks or sites is not a panacea and not the best way to deal with violations. It is better to record violations with photo and video which will be an instant deterrent to offenders and evidence for further legal actions – the representative of the CVU stressed.
