The next round of the electoral process will be of little interest for residents of the regional center of Transcarpathia, which will provoke a very low turnout. And the second round of the mayoral elections in Uzhgorod will be overshadowed by the rivalry between Moskal and Patskan.
This prediction for the second round of the elections in Uzhgorod was shared to a correspondent of the IA ZIK by the head of the Transcarpathian branch of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine Dmytro Tyzhansky.
"Currently, from a legal point of view, the second round of the mayoral elections in Uzhgorod should be held without any hitches, although the official results of the first one have not yet been published. Meanwhile, there is a very big political component after October 25 when the internal conflict between the leaders of the "Solidarnist" was made public with accusations of treason and political corruption. This occurs against the public outrage about the distortion of election results due to bribery, which is obvious, but which no one can prove.
Therefore, the current political elites of Uzhgorod and Transcarpathia are enthusiastically watching the fight between Hennadiy Moskal and Valeriy Patskan.
On the other hand, the public is trying to influence the election process, demanding re-election in Uzhgorod, but there should be legal grounds for that, and they do not have them. No one has provided any evidence of widespread vote buying in Uzhgorod. If this continues, the second round will take place in due course with Serhiy Ratushniak and Bohdan Andriyiv. I predict that there will be extremely low turnout at these elections, and the second round will be of little interest to Uzhgorod residents. The behind the scenes confrontation within the "Solidarnist" and its results will be much more intriguing. Therefore I predict that the second round of the mayoral elections in Uzhgorod will be overshadowed by the rivalry between Moskal and Patskan", – Mr. Tuzhansky predicts.
