OPORA caught Transcarpathian “Vidrodzhennya” on illegal campaigning in buses

The Civic Network continues to record violations in the conduct of election campaigning by candidates from various political forces.

 The OPORA reports:

Campaigning posters of the candidate to the Transcarpathian Regional Council from the party "Nash Krai" Vasyl Churey were found on a commuter bus "Uzhgorod-Lyuta". The candidate is running for the constituency №5 (Velyky Berezny district – the district center and 31 villages).

The bus with posters pasted on the outside of windows was detected by the OPORA observer on a platform of Uzhgorod bus station on October 5.

As explained by the driver, "one of the passengers" had asked the permission to paste the posters and he allowed him.He said he did not know that placing campaigning materials in public transport is prohibited. The driver said that he would remove the postes as soon as finishes the trip.

Volodymyr Kozun, the director of the "Uzhgorod ATP-12107" JSC, that owns the bus, assured the OPORA observer that the fleet management had not ordered drivers to place campaign materials in buses. Volodymyr Kozun said that the management would inform the drivers that campaigning in buses is prohibited.
