Yesterday, in Transcarpathia, during the special operation, which is held under the coordination of the European Agency FRONTEX, along the EU Eastern border with Ukraine, border guards of the Chop detachment in cooperation with Slovak colleagues found and detained several groups of illegal migrants.
Thus, first at the Ukrainian-Slovak border, border guards of the department "Velyky Berezny" of the Chop detachment arrested four men without documents. According to them, they came from Somalia. However, as it turned out, one of them came from Ethiopia. During subsequent searches, border guards found and detained five more persons who were citizens of Afghanistan, also without documents.
Soon, thanks to the extended joint efforts, border guards of the two countries found another four Afghans who were heading towards the border. Other offenders were arrested by soldiers of the Chop detachment 400 meters from the border. They were two Iranian nationals and one citizen of Afghanistan.
Another one migrant was detained by border guards of the same detachment at the checkpoint "Chop". When checking one of the trains that arrived from the capital, border guards found a citizen of Côte d’Ivoire without documents. Previously it was established that he came to Ukraine to study.
Verification measures in respect of the detained offenders continue, and persons who helped them to "travel" are being identiified.
