The Deputy Mayor of Uzhgorod Ivan Shkyrta made an unscheduled visit to the main hospital of the city.
"I was shocked by the current state of the hospital. Mess, piles of garbage in the surrounding area, remains of burnt medicines, missing manhole covers, overgown grass, missing fence in the city clinic!
But this is only the beginning. When you get inside, it seems that it is a military hospital during the Second World War. Everything is dirty, no handles on toilet doors, no basic hygiene means, nor even covers on the seats!
I understand that the funding is insufficient. However, keeping order is the responsibility of the hospital managers, and it does not require much funds. Kurakh is a good surgeon. But a bad manager…" – the deputy mayor of the city shared his impressions.
He also called Uzhgorod residents to respond immediately to the slightest breach in health care sector and to contact him personally.
By the way, at the end of this working week, at the City Council, they established the commission for audit of the financial and economic activities and medical affairs at the Uzhgorod city hospital and clinic, the publication Uzhgorod informs.
Recall that the sorry state of the hospital is a well-known topic of the media space. We can only hope that after having seen it firsthand, the city officials will make some change for the better.
