The heat is not going away: only the fifth part of our rivers has left, fire hazard remains

According to the Transcarpathian Regional Centre for Hydrometeorology, on 15th and 16th of August, the heatwave of + 35-37 ° C is expected in the plains and at foothills of the region.

It will increase the atmospheric and soil drought, which could lead to fires. That is why high (Class 4) and extreme (Class 5) fire hazard is declared in the most of the region.

Also, prolonged heat has led to shallowing of rivers. In the western and central part of the region, the water content of rivers is only 15-20% of normal, and in the Upper Tisa Basin – 30-40% of normal.
