On Friday night, near Dilove (Rakhiv district, Transcarpathian region), Mukachevo border guards noticed three men carrying boxes of cigarettes to the Ukrainian-Romanian border. During the chase, the offenders dropped the cigarettes and crossed the Tisa river to Romanian territory. Romanian border guards were notified about the fugitives. In addition, overnight Mukachevo border guards detained 4 Iraqis and 1 Syrian, who were trying to illegally get to the European Union.
Hungary also significantly intensifies the fight against contraband flows from the territory of Ukraine. After the meeting of the representatives of security forces from border regions of Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania in Uzhgorod, during which they exchanged operational information, the prosecutors and the tax inspectorate of Hungary detained 19 customs officers who are reasonably suspected of facilitating the smuggling of cigarettes through checkpoints on the Hungarian-Ukrainian border. Now, the investigative team of law enforcement agencies from Budapest are working at the scene.
