Transcarpathian Regional State Ukrainian Music and Drama Theatre closes the 69th theatrical season. The manager Vasyl Maryukhnych, the chief director of the theater Anatoly Filippov and the artistic director Vasyl Shershun told about the achievements of the leading theater in the region.
The season was really busy for the theater: in 11 months, the actors have played in 180 performances covering about 24 thousand viewers throughout the region. In terms of money, the net income of the theater was almost UAH 600 thousand.
In addition, the actors managed to decently represent the theater on stages of Kyiv and Lviv.
During the season, the theater company worked on five premieres. The latest one – "What willows are weeping about" (based upon "Wretched" by Karpenko-Kary) – will be presented on July 12, at 18.00. As defined by the producer, Honored Artist of Ukraine Vasyl Shershun, this work of Ivan Karpenko-Kary is a must-read not only for students, but for everyone. "It is the story of how human selfishness can unleash a whirlwind that will destroy even the strongest and most sincere feelings. The task of the theater is not only to entertain, to amaze, but also to educate and teach. I am sure that every viewer, will find something useful in our production" – Vasyl Shershun says.
In turn, the chief director of the theater Anatoly Filippov said that they also had planned to stage the play of Transcarpathian playwright Oleksandr Havrosh "A beautiful summer in Paris…" about the famous Transcarpathian artist Adalbert Erdelyi. But this premiere will open the next 70th jubilee theatrical season.
The theater workers did not announce any other productions, because this issue is to be discussed at the meeting of the Artistic Council. But they assured: there will be enough interesting performances, particularly musical ones – in collaboration with the regional philharmonic society.
