On the eve of the Constitution Day of Ukraine, the regional organizational and methodical center of culture organized for children a workshop on making of traditional Transcarpathian rag dolls. Children also made a composition "United Ukraine."
The workshop was conducted at the Regional Specialized Children Pulmonary Sanatorium "Malyatko" by artist-designer, a member of the National Union of Folk Art of Ukraine Maria Kupar and Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine Natalia Stehura. The event was held with the assistance of the deputy of the Regional Council Anton Zelinsky.
23 children, that are improving their health in the sanatorium, had a chance to learn about the tradition of rag doll making and make their own salt dough composition "United Ukraine." Maria Kupar noted that rag doll is a guardian of our souls. Natalia Stehura told children about the process of salt dough making, sculpting and baking basics. The artist gave the institution figures of a boy from the East of Ukraine and a Transcarpathian girl as a symbol of unity, that will be added to the composition "Ukraine is united country." The figures will be painted in patriotic colors and united into a single composition.
The director of the regional organizational and methodical center of culture Hanna Drohalchuk notes that such activities are conducted primarily for the purpose of patriotic education of the younger generation. "Our masters taught kids to make rag dolls. And they enjoyed it very much. Also, young people created composition "United Ukraine", which will stay in the sanatorium. Our experts organized this event for children to be both interesting and useful at the same time", – the head of the center said.
