Hungarian dancers recreated Transcarpathia on stage (PHOTOS)

Yesterday, in the Transcarpathian Regional Music and Drama Theater, there was a concert og the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble with the program "The spirit of Transcarpathia calls me – On both sides of the mountains." The concert was organized by the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhgorod.

The unique ensemble productions, costumes and even Ukrainian carols gathered a full house and a sea of applause after each performance. The concert included Hungarian, Romanian and Roma songs and dances.

It is pleasing that ensemble depicts the entire multi-ethnic diversity of Transcarpathia and rich culture of the region. According to creative director of the ensemble Gabor Mihayi, a few years ago, thanks to the General Consulate of Hungary in Uzhgorod, the ensemble came to Transcarpathia and Western Ukraine. That experience speeded up the conception project, which, sooner or later, would have been conceived anyway. The Director General of the House of Traditions in Hungary László Kelemen said then that over the last few decades there had not been a coherent Transcarpathian program in the Hungarian dance scene, so the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble decided to do that. The team first began to carefully collect local songs and dances.

They had a specific goal – peaceful coexistence of the peoples and mutual influence of cultures. Mr. Laszlo then added: "I hope that every culture will be able to see their own portrait in this "Transcarpathian family photograph".

The consert gathered full house: there were standing ovations and many flowers for the artists.
