On May 13, the European Commission intends to report on the results of implemenation of the second phase of the Action plan on visa liberalization by Ukraine.
This was announced in Brussels by the EU official, the UNIAN reported.
"The assessment (of Ukraine’s achievements in this area) will be made in the fifth report on the progress that will be adopted by the Commission not to the EU-Ukraine summit, but to the Riga Summit. It will be on Wednesday, May 13 – the report on Ukraine and Georgia will be presented" – he said.
According to the European official, the EU expects the Ukrainian party will raise the issue of visa liberalization during the summit.
"But the Ukrainian party is very well aware that it depends on the concrete achievements in meeting the criteria that should be fully met before the Commission proposes the Council to adopt the decision. The key step is a positive declaration of the EC on meeting the criteria," – he added.
Also, the EU official pointed out that the visa liberalization "is working".
"We saw it last year with Moldova", – he said.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledged that Ukraine was not going to fulfill the Action plan on visa liberalization by the summit in Riga .
