Mobile communication users will be deprived of anonymity in 6 months

The Administration of Special Communication and Information Protection published on its website a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "On amendments to Rules of provision and use of telecommunication services," the journalist of the EP reported.

The amendments envisage the provision of mobile communication services only under contracts with the provider or registration of information on the consumer with the provider of telecommunication services in accordance with the basic requirements set by the telecom regulator.

As the EP previously reported, SIM cards of mobile operators will be served only upon presentation of passport data of the user.

The resolution shall take effect 6 months from the date of its adoption. During this time, operators, service providers and consumers of telecom services should bring their relations in line with the amendments.

As noted, the draft resolution has been developed in connection with the information obtained by the Security Service of Ukraine about use of impersonal mobile communication devices by reconnaissance and subversive terrorists groups and Russian military occupation forces in order to create a surveillance and information network to collect and transmit data on the location and movement of the ATO forces, adjusting fire on them and trigggering bombs by calling on mobile device.

"The adoption of the draft resolution will contribute to a clear identification of mobile communication users, thereby improving the efficiency of law enforcement during the investigation and prosecution of perpetrators, and will help to counteract "mobile frauds" – the darft resolution description reads.
