Members of the Regional Council approved the "Program of providing medical support to patients with transplanted organs," allocating 2.3 million hryvnia for its implementation. 1.15 million will be allocated from the regional budget, and the same amount – from local budgets.
According to the head of the Department of Health Care, a deputy of the Regional Council Vasyl Skryp, the supply of medicines for patients with transplanted organs will be over in a month. Without the drugs, the bodies of such patients can reject transplanted organs. Currently, there are 29 such patients (with transplanted kidneys or liver) in the region. One of them is a child. In January alone, another 3 transplantations of liver and one transplantation of kidney from living donors to residents of Transcarpathia were performed at the National Institute of Surgery and Transplantation.
Due to the fact that all of the immunosuppressive therapy drugs for prevention of rejection of organ transplants are drugs of foreign origin whose price increases according to foreign currency exchange rate, the drugs received under the centralized supply during the previous year were only enough to cover 40-55% of the need. Therefore, the deputies were proposed to allocate funds for this purpose.
