The Order of Maria Theresa will be awarded in Uzhgorod

Soon, in Uzhgorod, citizens, who have made a significant contribution to the development of Uzhgorod or Transcarpathian region, will be honored with the Order of Maria Theresa. The ceremony will take place in April-May this year, in the park of Maria Theresa in front of the Cathedral opened in January 2015. The award is founded by the Panov family.

Alen Panov, philanthropist and founder of the Maria Theresa Park told about the reasons for this initiative. "First. We must support and unite active citizens who are changing our society for the better and lead us to Europe not in words but in deeds. Each year, we will have one chevalier. In thirty years, there will be 30 of them. Thus, another layer of our Transcarpathian European elite will be formed that will be influencing all positive changes – Alen Panov said. – Second. When we created the Maria Theresa Park, we immediately had the idea that the park should be alive. There will be many events there, it will always be initiating something new and positive."

According to Alen Panov, there are many people to choose from. "Fortunately, we have enough decent, compelling personalities. We chose out of the 5 most deserving, in our opinion, representatives of Transcarpathia. At present, two candidates are left. We are still considering. Soon, Transcarpathia will know the winner – Alen Panov intrigues. – The ceremonial awarding will be held in the park of Maria Theresa according to the best European traditions. We can say, that it will be a pleasant surprise for Uzhgorod residents and visitors. It will be also a surprise for the Chevalier of the Order of Maria Theresa. The date of the event will be announced in the coming days, but we already can say that it will be in the third decade of April or early May. The name of the winner will be disclosed only during the awarding."
