The commander of the 128 Brigade – Serhiy Shaptala – was awarded the title of the Hero of Ukraine

By the Decree of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, colonel Serhiy Shaptala was awarded the title of the Hero of Ukraine He is the commander of the 128th Separate Guards Mountain Infantry Brigade – the main military unit of Transcarpathia, which showed their best at the front, including Debaltseve bridgehead.

The decree was posted on the website of the President of Ukraine. It states:

For personal courage, heroism and professionalism in the protection of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless service to the Ukrainian people:
