The terrible news came to Chop yesterday, February 16, from the combat zone in the east of our country. After Minsk agreements had taken effect and ceasefire had been announced, near Debaltseve, as a result of the insidious terrorist attack with Grads and mortars on the base camp of the 128th mountain infantry brigade, a resident of Chop, former employee of Chop City Council, Lieutenant Oleg Koval was killed. Oleg Koval was born January 30, 1972 in the village of Lysyanka in Cherkasy region. In 1990 he graduated from the local high school and entered Nizhny Novgorod higher military construction school.In August 1992 he was transferred to the Simferopol higher military construction school, from which he graduated in June 1994 and received specialty "engineer of the construction and operation of buildings and structures" and the title of lieutenant. From July 1994 to December 2002 he was on military service in the military unit A-0474 in Chop as the deputy company commander for education. From 2004 to 2010, Oleg Koval was the head of the State Architectural Control Inspectorate, the deputy chief architect of Chop City Council. Since 2010 he has been working as the chief of the State Architectural Control Inspectorate of Uzhgorod district. In July 2014, he was mobilized to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and sent to the ATO area.
Oleg Koval was married. He had two children and a grandson.

Currently, neither Chop City Council nor the military commissariat have received official documents on the death of Oleg Koval. According to preliminary information, the officer will be buried in the village of Lysyanka in Cherkasy region. On the day of the funeral, a memorial service for the fallen hero will be held in Chop. The time and place of the memorial events will be announced later.
