Military tourism: fortifications in Transcarpathia

Recently, military tourism has become quite popular, and Transcarpathia is a good place for it.

In Transcarpathia, there are 6 lines of defense: 2 Czechoslovak (Benes Line and Masaryk Line) and 4 Hungarian (Hunyadi Line, László Line, St. Istvan Line and Arpad line).

The Arpad line is one of the largest defensive structures that have survived to the present time, the website "7 Dniv" informs.

The powerful military-defense complex of the Second World War stretched 600 kilometers along the old border across the entire Carpathian range. The end points of the Arpad Line were the Duklja pass in the west and the Yablunetsky pass in the east.  

The Arpad Line was not a solid line of defense, as most tourists believe, but consisted of separate units.

One of such defense unit is the bunker in the village of Verkhnya Hrabivnytsya (Volovets district.). This is the best preserved and most historically valuable fortification object of the Arpad Line. It is believed that the bunker was to be used as the General Headquarters of the 1st Hungarian Army.

A local entrepreneur from the village of Zhdeniyevo intends to open a museum "Arpad Line" there. Taking the lease on the facility, he installed new doors and closed exits, repaired the floor and electrified the premises.  It is planned to use the room to display exhibits. Now, in one of the rooms, there is a wine tasting hall where you can sample 18 varieties of excellent wines.
