The statement was sent to the Mukachevo.Net.
What is the Maidan? What did it do? What role did it play? What has changed over the year? A lot has changed. And most importantly, all of us have changed.
Then, in the autumn of 2013 and the winter of 2014, we sincerely believed that we can make a difference or "stop" something and we stopped it. Maidan changed the vision of "soviet" values, which many people had had before that. Finally, we realized that together, uniting our efforts and common aspirations, we can change and influence the processes in the country affecting every Ukrainian and every family.
The adage "none of my business" is not an axiom anymore, now is the time to feel the responsibility, first of all, to ourselves and the society as a whole.
Analyzing the effects and role of the Maidan, we want to mention those who did not see or did not want to see what was going on. Those who were doing their evil deeds without fear of anyone and anything, contrary to common sense. Those people received awards, certificates, titles of the "honorary member of the Party of Regions." They were serving the then ruling party, without fear of consequences.
Khust district was no exception. At the time of the brutal massacre of students, some heads of departments, divisions, directors of institutions, solemnly swore to serve Yanukovych and support his "team" in all endeavors. These people would cynically and deliberately execute instructions of their bosses.
Summing up, it is difficult to understand the actions of certain officials who have lost the most important thing – morality, and have been working in the district to this day, perhaps, not very successfully, but still…
Why are leaders and faithful servants of Yanukovych regime still working in the district? Why is the chief educator of Khust district Rusin PP, who is known for his "repression" during the Revolution of Dignity, still managing the education sector? Why do we all think that he is irreplacable? Why don’t we think of who should be reponsible for this? The answer is simple. Servants of the Yanukovych regime must not only be condemned by the public, but also bear responsibility for their actions.
Honor and praise to those who have remained adamant in their views and beliefs, sought for changes for the better, defended justice and morality. This is the essence of the Revolution of Dignity.
A year has passed, but there are still many questions.
