Power supply in hospitals will be monitored more carefully after an incident in Perechyn district hospital

Transcarpathian media reported an incident in Perechyn district hospital.  An emergency blackout happened there (after tripping of emergency feeder, which in turn caused the shutdown of several transformer substations in the city). The hospital management had to call rescuers, because power supply was disconnected in the surgical department of the district hospital where at that time there was a person connected to a ventilator machine which could have shut down. Using a power substation, the electricity supply was restored.

Reacting to the incident, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Administration Vasyl Hubal called to the head of the "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" Victor Petrov requesting to urgently bring the situation under control and prevent such incidents, dangerous to life and health of citizen, and to keep the situation under control thereafter.

Also, the head of the region instructed the head of the Health Care Department of Transcarpathian Regional Administration Vasyl Skryp to keep the situation with backup power supply at the Perechyn hospital under control and to study the situation with such systems in other hospitals of the region. It is especially important to pay increasing attention to this issue in the context of the onset of cold weather and therefore a greater load on the power supply grids. Hospitals must not be subjected to the risk of blackout – Vasyl Hubal said.
