Unwanted guests of Transcarpathia “stayed” at the Mukachevo city police department (PHOTOS)

Detectives of the Criminal Investigation unit, in the neighborhood "Pidhoryany" in Mukachevo, noticed a white van with transit license plates, that had long been driving the city streets. Suspecting the persons, who were in the car, of criminal intentions, the detectives decided to find out what the men were doing in the city on Latorica.

Subsequently, in the course of operational activities, police officers, during the personal search, found on one of them – a 20-year-old resident of Kyiv – a Makarov pistol with live ammunition in amount of 8 pcs. The men also presented an already invalid badge of the officer of "Kyiv-2" police patrol battalion.  

– During the inspection of the car, the police officers found under the driver’s seat an automatic "Scorpion" pistol with the label "7.65 Salve Blank14" with a loaded magazine containing 10 rounds, a metal device that looked like a muffler – the Acting Head of the Mukachevo Criminal Police Department Yaroslav Tovkan informed. – And in the trunk of the car, the detectives found a paper roll with 11 live rounds of 9 mm caliber marked "9mm Makarov".

All three men were detained and questioned by investigators. The oldest of them, a resident of Chernihiv region is 37 years old. The other two, residents of the capital are 34 and 20 years old.

When asked by the investigator about the origin of the weapons and the purpose of their stay in Mukachevo, the men told that they had found the weapons in the city of Izyum, during their stay in the ATO area in the east.The 20-year-old resident of Kyiv admitted that he was the owner of the prohibited items.

Currently, law enforcement officers are checking everything thoroughly. The incident was registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations under Part 1 of Art.263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives). It is known that one of the men has been held criminally liable and served 14 months sentence in prison.  The seized items were sent to the expert center at the MIA of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region for examination.
