Transcarpathian prosecutors are checking Mukachevo police over the death of a detainee

Transcarpathian prosecutors initiated criminal proceedings into the improper performance of official duties by employees of the temporary holding facility of Mukachevo city police

The Prosecutors of Transcarpathian region launched an investigation into improper performance of official duties (Part 2 of Art. 376 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) by employees of the temporary holding facility of Mukachevo city police leading to the death of a 30-year-old detainee in a cell.

 As you know, yesterday, around 13.00, a detained resident of the city of Mukachevo died in the temporary holding facility of Mukachevo city police.

 Currently, experts are establishing the cause of death. Guilty employees of the holding facility face imprisonment for a term of two to five years.

Part 2 of Art. 376 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – negligence, ie, failure to perform or improper performance of official duties by a person that caused any grave consequences, punishable by imprisonment for a term of two to five years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term up to three years and with a fine of two hundred fifty to seven hundred tax-free minimum incomes, or without it.
