However, two-wheeled vehicles still may be stolen, so their owners should be cautious.
Recently, the number of expensive imported bicycle thefts in Uzhgorod has increased. The police look for offenders, but it is impossble to put an officer near every bike parked by its owner on street without protection means. So police ask the citizens not to be too careless and not to leave their two-wheeled vehicles on the streets unchained. And even if you chained a bicycle and left it overnight near a house, it absolutely does not guarantee its safety. Because it is not a problem for a thief to cut a rope or a chain.
Thus, recently, a resident of Uzhgorod from M.Bozhuk street appealed to the city police. The applicant reported that an unknown person, by damaging a bicycle lock, had stolen her bicycle "Ardisia" which was fastened to a metal lattice at the entrance of her house. The amount of loss is 2000 UAH.
In the course of search operations, officers of the Criminal Investigation of Uzhgorod city police found out that this theft had been committed by an 18-year-old resident of Uzhgorod. The physical evidence – the stolen bike – was seized. The thief is being prosecuted.
But thieves keep on stealing bikes. Thus, recently, a resident of Uzhgorod from Jambul st. appealed to the police. The woman reported that an unknown person had stolen a bicycle "Formula" costing 1,600 UAH from her son.
The police are searching for the thief.
