Transcarpathian Regional Military Commissariat published the following statement.
"During the partial mobilization ordered by the Decree of the President of Ukraine "On partial mobilization" (approved by the Law of Ukraine №1595-VII dd. July 22, 2014), the military commissariat in Transcarpathian region has been receiving accusations of calling up deputies and heads of village, town, city, district and regional councils.
Please note that the military commissariats in Transcarpathian region are governed exclusively by the applicable laws and other normative legal acts, and in matters of calling up to military commissariats make no exceptions for any individuals according to any criteria. In particular, in accordance with Articles 17, 65 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, its economic and information security are the most important functions of the state, of all Ukrainian people. The defense of the country, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine is the duty of citizens of Ukraine.
Also, Article 22 of the Law of Ukraine "On mobilization preparation and mobilization" provides that citizens are obliged to report when called to the military commissariat.
We emphasize that deputies of local governments are citizens of Ukraine too. Among them, there are people subject to military service, who have appropriate military profession and are subject to draft, along with other citizens of Ukraine subject to military service.
We believe that the community of Transcarpathian region has done many useful things to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And this is the time when elected officials, by their own example, can demonstrate a responsible attitude to civil and military duty to protect the Motherland, independence and territorial integrity of the state.
Only by joining our efforts, we can protect the territorial integrity of the State, return peace and tranquility, strengthen the defense of the country", – the press group of the Transcarpathian RMC reported.
As the military commissar Ivan Vasyltsyun told the Uzhgorod.in, about two dozen deputies of Uzhgorod City Council have received calls, three of them have undergone a medical examination.
Recall that a City Council member and son of the former Mayor Andriy Pogorelov, who also received a call, promised to come to the military commissariat last week, however, as of Friday he still has not done it.
