The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the laws on amendments to the Customs and the Tax Codes of Ukraine regarding the exemption of import duties and value added tax on personal protective equipment and medicines for the purposes of the anti-terrorist operation. The laws came into effect today, July 23, because yesterday they were published in the newspaper "Holos Ukrainy" № 137 (5887).
So, helmets, body armor made according to military standards or specifications and materials (yarn, fabric) required for its manufacture can now be imported to Ukraine without VAT and import duty. Similarly, medicines and medical devices intended for use by health care facilities and participants of the ATO to provide medical assistance to persons, who have suffered concussion or other injuries, shall be exempt from tax and customs duty.
These rules are provided by the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine on special personal protective equipment and medicines" dd. July 1, 2014 № 1561-VII; "On Amendments to the Customs Code of Ukraine and laws of Ukraine concerning the importation of personal protective equipment and medicines" dd. July 1, 2014 № 1560-VII.
