Stormy discussion on passenger transportation at Uzhgorod city council executive committee culminated in voting. 

12 executive committee members voted "for", three – "against", with one abstention.

The authorities explain that the new fare is economically reasonable and has been approved by the competition authority. 

As Victor Shchadey said after emotional discussion, the problem of Uzhgorod is that there is no municipal transport there. Currently, the only way to solve the problem of the high price is a single major carrier, and then transit passes could be introduced. This practice is adopted in Europe, he says. At the moment, it is impossible – as long as there are 50 different carriers in the city. 

"Everybody wishes the price was low, but there are realities.If we do not raise the price, tomorrow carriers will say that something is broken and buses will not run. And whom will people come to complain to? To me" – Victor Shchadey said.

The draft decision states that the new fare will be valid from the date of publication of the decision. Most likely, it will happen on Saturday, July 12, when will the newspaper "Uzhgorod" will be issued.
