The Parliament appointed Valeriy Heletey as the Defense Minister of Ukraine. 260 MPs voted for it –
the Ukrainska Pravda informed.
Previously, the deputies dismissed the Acting Defense Minister Mykhailo Koval.
Heletey took the oath in the Parliament.
He promised to ensure peace and order in the state, restore the sovereignty of Ukraine.
"Trust me, the victory parade will take place in Ukrainian Sevastopol," – the new minister said.
Heletey used to head the State Protection Directorate under the President Yushchenko.
On March 2, 2014, by the decree of the Interim President Oleksandr Turchynov he was re-appointed
as the head of the Directorate.
