Transcarpathian historians told which dates will be marked in the second half of 2014

In Uzhgorod Press Club, there was a press conference of the Transcarpathian Regional Organization of the National Union of Ethnographers of Ukraine.

 

They discussed the events that the Union is planning to celebrate a significant number of historical and cultural dates in the second half of 2014 And also about the activities of the specialized site of the organization.

Serhiy Fedaka, professor, the spokesman for the Union, said that the year 2014 is extremely rich in anniversaries. Regional ethnographers inform about all events through the website ot the regional union organization zaknssku.com.ua.    

Mykhailo Delegan, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Organization of the National Union of Ethnographers of Ukraine noted that the union had not missed any meaningful phenomena or event and covered them in the information space. "Today, our website has taken its rightful place and has a significant impact on the situation in the country. All major events are displayed on the site. The professional journal of the National Union of Ethnographers of Ukraine noted the work done by Transcarpathians, particularly on filling the information space", – Mykhailo Delegan said.  

Serhiy Fedaka also noted that the Transcarpathian Union Organization plans to develop the logo of the organization and to introduce on the site a section with information about each of the 11 cities in Transcarpathia for those interested in the region.

As for the next dates planned to be marked by the Transcarpathian regional ethnographers, those are the anniversary of the First World War, which began on June 28, when Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne was assassinated in Sarajevo. "Exactly one month later, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. The next day, Russia stood for Serbia, on August 1, Germany declared war on Russia. This year marks the 100th anniversary of that tragic turning point that changed the face of Europe, the fate of Ukraine and Transcarpathia – Serhiy Fedaka said. – The second remarkable date is October 28 – 70 years since the end of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine during WWII, the expulsion of the Nazis. For 10 years this date has been celebrated as the official day of liberation of Ukraine from German occupation."
