Official Hungary dissociated itself from radicals

Hungarian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the statements of some political parties and movements that call into question the territorial integrity and sovereignty of other countries and ignore the interests of the Hungarian minorities in these countries.
This statement of the Foreign Ministry, according to the correspondent of Radio Svoboda, is a response to the meeting for granting autonomy to Transcarpathian region and subsequent separation from Ukraine.
In the evening of March 27, in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, there was a crowd of 200 to 300 people who were holding slogans in Hungarian and English, "Self-determination for Transcarpathia!" and "Hungary demands the return of Transcarpathia!" and were waving nationalist flags. The rally was held on the initiative of Tamas Gaudi-Nagy, MP from the "Yobbik" party. This information was actively disseminated by Transcarpathian media known for their pro-Russian and "regional" bias.
In today’s statement, the Foreign Ministry of Hungary strongly dissociated itself from the "spirit and content" of the petition, which does not promote, but rather threatens the future of both the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia, and the entire region. Hungary has repeatedly stated its continued support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and does not consider "Potemkin" referendum to be an act of implementation of people’s right to self-determination, does not recognize its results and the legitimacy of the Crimea annexia by Russia.
"At the same time Hungary, has consistently pursued a policy of full support of the rights of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia, especially in education and the use of the mother tongue," the statement of the Foreign Ministry of Hungary says.
