Uzhgorod residents join self-defense groups. The first shift is tomorrow

30 people have volunteered to join the self-defense units in Uzhgorod, and tomorrow they will protect the AutoMaidan.

This was announced today, at the meeting of Uzhgorod People’s Council during the consideration of the issue on the formation of self-defense groups.

The main objectives of the formed units, according to the draft decision, will be guarding meetings, identification of provocateurs during protests, control of law enforcement agencies present at events and protection of the AutoMaidan during rallies.

According to speakers, about 30 people volunteered to join self-defense units. In the future they probably will purchase for them special identification vests.

Today, they plan to hold the first training for self-defense units on provision of first medical aid. And tomorrow, a self-defense unit will accompany the AutoMaidan during the trip to Khust.

It is expected that the self-defense units will be legalized in the future as a public entity. 

Soon, the charter of the public association will be developed, and in 5 days, the final version of the draft decision on the people’s self-defense will be formed and considered at the next meeting of Uzhgorod People’s Council.
