The defendant in the case, a native of Rakhiv district, in the summer had worked with the victim at a sawmill in Tyachiv district. One owed another 100 UAH, the debt which had been long overdue. And, the other day, the "creditor" reminded the debtor about the money.
The debtor had no desire to return the money, so the conversation between the colleagues turned into a quarrel and then to fight. In a moment, the man lost his temper, grabbed a wooden stick and hit the victim on the head…
The blow caused the man injuries in the form of open craniocerebral injury, brain concussion, fracture of the temporal bone with the transition to the base of the skull. All of these injuries were a real danger to the life of the victim at the time of infliction – Ivan Philip from Tyachiv District Police reported.
This incident was registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations. According to Tyachiv District Police Chief Pavlo Basarab, the pre-trial investigation gathered enough evidence for
prosecution of the attacker for committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (grievous bodily harm). For that, he faces a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years.
