December 6 is the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Despite the relatively short official history of the Ukrainian military, true age of Ukrainian army amounts to several centuries, and its military traditions evolved in severe bloody wars and conflicts from Kyiv Rus to WWII. Today, soldiers and officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue the traditions of their grandparents and parents with dignity.
On the occasion of this holiday, Transcarpathian Regional Library invited soldiers from an Uzhgorod military base. The employee of the service department Oksana Shlyakhta conducted a tour of the library for the guests. Soldiers not only listened with interest but also entered into dialogue with library workers. It is pleasant to note that the visit did not leave them indifferent. In addition, Yevheniya Napuda and Larysa Philip delivered a lecture on the history of Ukrainian army. After the lecture, the library workers treated soldiers with hot tea and cakes. Then, the company commander shared with the audience the memories of his service in Africa in the Ukrainian troops under UN auspices.
After seeing the features of modern library, soldiers promised to visit the library in the future.
