Tomorrow, the state of emergency may be announced in Ukraine

On December 2, they may impose a state of emergency in Ukraine. This was reported to the RBC-Ukraine from a source in the Cabinet of Ministers.

"There are serious discussions about further actions. The meeting is attended by officials of the Cabinet and the Presidential Administration. There is a strong likelihood that on Monday, the state of emergency will be announced in the country. But the issue is not yet resolved. Maybe, the state of emergency will be limited to Kyiv" – the source said.

According to the Law "On legal regime of the state of emergency", the state of emergency, in particular, may be imposed in the event of mass disturbances involving violence against citizens, restricting their rights and freedoms, attempts to seize state power or change the constitutional order of Ukraine by force.

Proposals for the introduction of the state of emergency can be made to the President by the National Security Council or the Cabinet of Ministers.

The state of emergency in Ukraine or in its particular areas is introduced by a presidential decree, which is subject to approval by the Parliament within two days. 

The state of emergency in Ukraine can be introduced for a period of not more than 30 days and not more than 60 days in particular areas.
