The sentence of Uzhgorod city and district court of Transcarpathian region against the foreigner who tried to illegally import firearms and ammunition to Ukraine from Slovakia, has entered into force.
In March, in the customs post "Uzhgorod" during a customs inspection of the car, driven by a 44-year-old resident of Slovakia, a native of Mukachevo, border guards found and seized guns and ammunition wrapped in a cloth and a bag.
Experts confirmed that the seized items were firearms and ammunition intended for carbines, rifles, hunting rifles.
The foreigner had no permits for the transportation of firearms and ammunition across the customs border of Ukraine.
In May, investigators of the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region notified the Slovak citizen of the suspicion of having committed crimes under Part 1 of Art.201 (illegal transportation of weapons and ammunition across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control) and Part 1 of Art. 263 (illegal possession and storage of firearms and ammunition).
The court found the offender guilty and sentenced him to a five years’ imprisonment on probation for 3 years and forfeiture of the contraband – firearms and ammunition which are to be destroyed.
