Slalyava District Prosecutor’s Office initiated a pre-trial investigation into abuse of guardian rights (Art. 167 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Threy suspect in the commission of this offense a woman who received government assitance to raise her orphaned grandson and spent the money on her own needs.
According to the Slalyava District Prosecutor Igor Zhurakivsky, the prosecution found out that the 15-year-old orphan for more than seven years had been under the tutelage of citizen G. who is his grandmother. However, the woman, abusing guardian rights, did not create for him proper conditions living, education and development, and used state social assistance for the grandson, amounting to nearly 122,000 UAH, for her own needs. Prosecutor Zhurakivsky added that the house where they lived was in poor and unsanitary condition. Because of such inappropriate care, the minor had conflicts with the law – he has committed several crimes. "Therefore, the prosecution registered this criminal offenses in the URPI and initiated pre-trial investigation" – Igor Zhuravsky said.
This family workers was not in the sight of the district Social Protection and Juvenile Services. The question of the abolition of custody and withdrawal of the child from the dangerous situation, the termination of payment of state aid has been not initiated, inspections have not been conducted. Given the above, Slalyava District Prosecutor made the appropriate request to the head of the district state administration which remains pending.
