In 2011-2012, more than one million Ukrainians have left to work abroad.
These data were announced by the project coordinator on labor migration, ILO expert Tetyana Minenko, the "Radio Svoboda" reported.
"That figure – 1.2 million – is a result of two years. During this period, the largest influx of migrant workers from Ukraine went to Russia and Poland, Italy is on the second place among the EU countries, the Czech Republic is on the third place,"- Minenko said.
According to the expert, before the crisis the most popular destinations of Ukrainian migrants in in the Eurozone were Italy, Spain, Portugal, but over the past two years, the migration "moved" to Central and Eastern Europe and Russia.
In addition, almost three million Ukrainians at least once have travelled abroad for employment as part of the so-called seasonal migration.
The Ukrainian government and international institutions should receive information about migration processes in Ukraine from the extended migration profile, which has been compiled within the framework of the international project.
